Can’t let me go but you’ll never wed
I’m the skeleton in your closet,
the whisper in your bed
Did you think you’re alone?
Did you forget you’re never really on your own?
I was buried like the hatchet
fresh dirt and granite
You thought you won
but the mention of me,
and you come undone
I’m the cold breeze you feel with fright
ever so present but never in sight
Nothing stops the all encompassing night
or the echoes in the wind
How many times will you look over your shoulder?
Even in the daytime
it’s just a matter of time
until the veil thins and I appear
dearly departed but still near
Did you forget which one of us is the ghost?
You thought you won
but you never got past us,
now your sanity won’t outlast us
How can you say you fared worse,
when I’m the one who left in the hearse?
