Lit Brawl I: 30 Writers. One Champion. All Blood.

Welcome to Lit Brawl—Lowlife Lit Press's no-holds-barred, ink-splattered literary deathmatch. 30 writers enter. One walks away with the belt. 5-dollar entry. 150-dollar payout.

This ain’t your MFA workshop. This is bracket-style combat, where raw prose and razor-sharp poetry go toe-to-toe in a public vote. Writers face off, readers decide who moves on. No judges. No committees. Just your words against theirs and the crowd roaring for blood.

Each round, the winner of every bracket moves forward. One step closer to the throne. One step deeper into the fire. Until only one lowlife legend is left standing.

Lit Brawl I starts in three days. Keep your eyes peeled and sharpen your lines. It’s going to get loud, ugly, and beautiful as hell.

Lit Brawl I—Submission Guidelines

The Fight Starts on the Page. Writers have 3 days to prepare. First 30 submissions accepted.

Welcome to Lit Brawl I, the first bloody round of Lowlife Lit Press's literary showdown. This isn’t for the faint of pen. It’s for the bare-knuckle storytellers, the gutter poets in fiction form. Want in? Read this like your life depends on it—because your story's about to get dragged through the arena.

What to Submit:

  • Microfiction only

  • 300–500 words. No more. No less.

  • Theme: Raw human emotion. We want real stories. No dragons, no aliens, no time machines. Just pain, joy, regret, desperation—life as it is, not as you wish it were.

  • Genre: Realism only. No sci-fi, fantasy, dystopian tech-porn, or multiverse nonsense. Keep it grounded. Keep it brutal.

Clean Your Work:

  • We do not edit your submission.

  • Edit. Re-edit. Proof the hell out of it. The public will vote, and they will see every typo. Grammar mistakes bleed like open wounds. If you can’t respect your own story enough to clean it up, you’re going to die in Round One.

Submissions will only be accepted through Duotrope. A dedicated submission call will be created. DO NOT submit for Lit Brawl I through the standard submission calls.
